Ogeechee Technical College announces the appointment of Grace Waits as a new member of its Local Board of Directors.

Waits currently serves as the president of the Screven County Chamber of Commerce as well as the director for the Sylvania Downtown Development Authority.

“We are looking forward to Grace’s involvement on our Local Board of Directors,” said Ogeechee Tech president, Lori Durden. “Her deep roots in Screven County will help the college continue to meet the needs of the residents and businesses in Sylvania and the surrounding area. She is a wonderful addition, and we are excited that she has agreed to serve in this capacity.”

A resident of Screven County for over 30 years, Waits has also sat as the Executive Director of the United Way of Screven County (2015-2017) and is currently on the CASA Ogeechee (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Board of Directors.

Waits, who recently served on the Ogeechee Technical College Foundation Board, will be filling the position vacated by former local board member Bobby Smith, who completed his term this spring. She and her husband have four children and attend Eastern Height Baptist Church in Statesboro where they work with youth and she interprets for the deaf.
