Business Management Instructor John Witherington was recently selected to participate in the 2026 Georgia Education Policy Fellowship (GEPF) through the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education.
The GEPF is a professional development program designed to equip leaders with the knowledge, skills, and professional networks needed to advance the key issues in education policy. Since its establishment in 2008, the Partnership has graduated more than 300 fellows.
“I am honored to join this year’s cohort of Georgia Education Policy Fellows,” said Witherington. “This experience will allow me to better understand how education policy is developed, implemented and experienced at the institutional and classroom levels. I look forward to learning from leaders across a variety of sectors and bringing those insights back to my students and colleagues at Ogeechee Tech.”
The program is a 9–10-month intensive experience for emerging and mid-career leaders from education, government, business, nonprofit, and other sectors. Fellows remain in their full-time jobs while participating in monthly colloquia, policy seminars, and other activities centered on three areas: public policy, leadership, and professional networking.
Through these experiences, fellows examine the challenges and opportunities facing education in Georgia while developing the leadership skills and cross-sector relationships needed to help shape effective policy and practice.
Withertington’s participation will provide valuable insight into statewide education priorities and emerging policy issues that can be shared with peers across Academic Affairs at OTC. Ultimately, the fellowship will help OTC remain responsive to changes affecting higher education and better positioned to prepare students for the evolving needs of Georgia’s workforce.
