ACE Electric Makes Generous Gift to Ogeechee Technical College to Advance Electrical & Industrial Systems Technology Program

Posted on Oct 08, 2025 at 14:01 PM

Ogeechee Technical College is pleased to announce that ACE Electric has made a generous gift to the College’s Electrical & Industrial Systems Technology program. Approximately half of the gift will be used to purchase new, state-of-the-art equipment to upgrade the program’s labs and training facilities.

“We are grateful to ACE Electric for partnering with us to strengthen workforce training in our region,” said Larry Mays, VP for College Advancement. “This gift will directly impact our students’ readiness to enter the electrical and industrial technology fields with confidence.”

This investment will enhance hands-on learning opportunities for students, ensuring they train on current industry-standard tools and machinery. The new equipment, which includes an Amatrol trainer for Electrical Power Distribution learning and a 208Y/120 transformer, will allow students learn advanced industrial and commercial wiring.

“Some lessons are best learned hands-on. The transformer lets students practice connecting and changing voltage directly, while the Electrical Power Distribution Learning Center, with its 3-phase motor, junction boxes, and bus bars, simulates an industrial setting right on campus, without the risks of ladders or lifts,” said OTC Instructor Matt Peacock.

As Ogeechee Tech continues to expand its technical offerings and realign program space, the remaining half of the gift will be earmarked for future opportunities tied to the evolving use of the Industrial Technology Building on OTC’s Statesboro campus.

“At Ace Electric, we believe our responsibility goes beyond the jobsite. By investing in training the next generation of electricians and partnering with community technical programs, we’re helping build strong careers, stronger families, and a stronger future for our industry and the communities,” said Tim Joyce, CEO of Ace Electric.
