Christy Rikard Featured in 20 Under 40

20 Under 40 honors a group of outstanding professionals under the age of 40 who excel in their industry, are company leaders, and are good community citizens.
OTC's Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, Christy Rikard, was recently awarded this honor.
Professional
Christy grew up as the daughter of an Army soldier. That experience moved her overseas and to four different states before college. Christy moved to Statesboro in 2003 to attend Georgia Southern University. She is a Double Eagle who began working for Georgia Southern upon graduation. After 12 years in the Office of Admissions, she accepted a role working with Student Affairs at Ogeechee Technical College, which has fostered a unique connection to her community. Most importantly, Christy met her husband, Weston Rikard, while enrolled at Georgia Southern and they have two daughters, Carolina, 7, and Chloe, 5. The most recent addition to their family is a new puppy, Whitley.
Future
“I knew within my first job at Georgia Southern that my passion was in higher education and since then I have been given the opportunity to continue building my career in this field. It is inspiring to see a student start their educational pursuit and later see them walk at graduation with their dream achieved. At Ogeechee Tech, not only do I now watch them graduate, but I occasionally see them working in their desired field all around town. It means so much to know my role directly impacts the future of our local workforce and our neighbors.”
