HVAC Students Receive Tools through Special Gift

Recently, two nontraditional students in the Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) Air Conditioning Technology program received a set of tools to help them through their program and jumpstart their career.
A nontraditional student is identified as any student enrolled in a program of study that will lead to an occupation in which their gender makes up 25% or less of total workforce numbers. This is the case for two female students currently enrolled in the Air Conditioning Technology program at OTC, which is a field historically occupied by males.
The two students, who completed finals last week, were presented with the toolkits by Dr. Brandy Taylor, VP for Institutional Effectiveness, and their instructor, Shane Todd.
“I have only had a handful of female students in my program since I started teaching in 2005, it is a rarity to teach two at the same time,” said Todd. “Both of these exceptional students are at the top of the class. In our profession you can never have enough tools, and these tool packages will not just save these students money, but it can help jumpstart their careers.”
