New Year, New Accolades for Practical Nursing Pin Recipients

19 students in the Practical Nursing program entered 2022 as Ogeechee Technical College alum having received their pins in an annual pinning ceremony held at 3:00 pm on December 9 in the Joseph E. Kennedy Auditorium.
Jada Young one of the nights pin recipients, addressed her classmates and reminded them of their ability to overcome obstacles to achieve their goals.
“There were weeks when all we could do was hold onto each other for strength. But no matter the obstacle, no matter the assignment or test, regardless of COVID-19 we are here,” said Young. “You did what you thought was impossible, you proved to yourself that you are more than capable… You are capable, you are wise, you are worthy.”
Jackie Howard, Practical Nursing program director, praised the group on behalf of her colleagues for their tenacity.
“I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying that ‘a diamond is just a chunk of coal that did well under severe pressure.’ Diamonds also have an image of purity and light; the strength and resilience of diamonds lasts forever… We as your instructors see you all as diamonds,” said Howard during the ceremony.
Those receiving their Practical Nursing pins this year are Sarah Behrmann, Jennifer Brown, Allyson Byrd, Adrienne Glover, Alyssa Grissom, Danielle Kump, Erica Mayner, Christeena Meade, Melissa Moore, Rachel Moore, Sharelle Mosley, Cecilia Pullen, Danielle Samuels, Leticia Sanchez, Shontele Saxton, Hannah Summers, Ashanay Washington, Shayna Williams, and Jada Young.
