Ogeechee On the Go - Blood Drive

Posted on Oct 29, 2020 at 18:28 PM

Phi Beta Lambda at Ogeechee Technical College partnered with the American Red Cross of Southeast and Coastal Georgia to hold a blood drive at the College on Tuesday, October 27.

The Red Cross mobile unit was parked outside of the Health Science North building from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and they collected 22 units of blood.

“Normally when the Red Cross comes to campus I’m in the chair giving blood,” said Angela Alston, an OTC employee who volunteered at the blood drive. “This time around I decided to spend a few hours volunteering and encouraging others to give because I know how critically important it is right now to get blood donations during the pandemic.”

Those who volunteered with the blood drive include Alston, Kim Hinely, Taretta Adams, Brenna Moore, Virginia Cone, Michele Morrison, and Phi Beta Lambda advisor Michael Twisdale.

Ogeechee on the Go is the name of Ogeechee Technical College’s community service initiative. OTC students and employees routinely participate in projects designed to support worthwhile causes within the community.
