Ogeechee Tech’s Division of Student Affairs Brings Hope for the Holidays

Posted on Jan 13, 2020 at 21:00 PM

Ogeechee Technical College’s Division of Student Affairs gathered donations to give to the Marine Toys for Tots Program prior to the holiday break. There were approximately 50 items donated including bikes, games, headsets, dolls, hygiene products and more.

Toys for Tots holds a special place in the heart of Shenavian Holloway, a Student Affairs Assistant, and former benefactor of the program. Shenavian, who has been volunteering with Toys for Tots for over 20 years, said, “My heart is full, because in our own small little way we made a difference in someone’s life, something we do in Student Affairs every day.”

The number of items collected for the donation this year doubled over that of previous years. Shenavian hopes that as the number of items increases each year they are also able to scale their operation to include children up to age 18.

The basic mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas.
