Ogeechee Technical College’s ASN Program Earns Initial ACEN Accreditation

Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) is proud to announce that the Board of Commissioners for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) has granted initial accreditation to the college’s Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program. The accreditation is effective retroactively to January 11, 2024, and extends through spring 2031.
OTC received its official accreditation decision letter and certificate this month, marking a significant milestone for the nursing program and the college.
“An important aspect of this announcement is that accreditation will apply retroactively to all students who previously graduated from our ASN program,” said Ariel Cagle, OTC ASN Program Director. “This means that our previous graduates will also be recognized as having graduated from an ACEN-accredited nursing program, provided their graduation dates fall within the accreditation period established by ACEN.”
The ASN program continues to demonstrate strong outcomes for its graduates. In the college’s most recent graduate cohort, 22 of the 23 first-time NCLEX-RN test takers passed the exam, achieving a 95.65% pass rate.
The ASN program is a competitive admissions program designed for students ready to pursue a career in nursing. While admission is selective, the program provides a focused pathway to nursing licensure, allowing students to become eligible to take the NCLEX-RN sooner than they might through more traditional educational pathways.
