OTC Hosts Successful Fall Blood Drive

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) at Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) hosted a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross of Southeast and Coastal Georgia on October 29, in the Oak Room of the Jack Hill Building.
The Red Cross team collected 36 units of blood during the event, successfully exceeding the drive’s goal of 20. With each unit having the potential to save up to three lives, this effort could positively impact as many as 108 patients in need.
Student volunteers from several OTC clubs helped support the drive, including SLC, OTC Nursing Club, FBLA, and SCNAVTA.
To date, OTC has hosted 60 drives, collected 1,897 units of blood, and registered 2,199 total donors, averaging 32 units per drive.
Beckie Snyder, Administrative Assistant for the Vice President of Student Affairs had a message for those who donated.
"Thank you for being a hero in someone’s story. It's through your generous donation that a gift of life, hope, and healing is given. Together, we’re making a difference, one drop at a time,” said Beckie Snyder, Administrative Assistant for VPSA.
Ogeechee on the Go is the name of Ogeechee Technical College’s community service initiative. OTC students and employees routinely participate in projects designed to support worthwhile causes within the community
