At the recent Georgia Education Advancement Council (GEAC) annual conference in Savannah, a number of awards were presented at a banquet on the final night. Karen Mobley, Executive Assistant for the President at Ogeechee Technical College, was given the award for Alumni Relations. Mobley took over the reins of the Alumni Association at OTC in 2012, and continues to oversee the association’s operation. In presenting the award, OTC Vice President for College Advancement, Barry Turner, stated, “Karen is a go-to person who can always be counted on to complete a task in the most professional manner. She revamped and continues to oversee alumni relations at Ogeechee Tech, and she is very deserving of this recognition.”

In accepting the award, Mobley discussed her own experience with GEAC and how it influenced her work with alumni. “By attending GEAC conferences in the past, and speaking with others from around the state, I was inspired to work with the alumni association at Ogeechee Tech.” According to the organization’s website, GEAC is a statewide organization for those at public and private colleges and universities who work in educational advancement including the areas of alumni, development, publications, and communications.

Regarding Mobley’s award, OTC President Lori Durden said, “Karen does so much work behind the scenes for which she never gets recognition, so it is especially appropriate that she get this award at an event like this. I am so proud of her.”
