OTC Students and Instructors Serve on the Front Lines

Instructors and students in Ogeechee Tech's Paramedicine Technology Program continue to serve in the field during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Roughly every three days many of Ogeechee Tech’s paramedic and EMT students go out into the field to work as first responders. In response to the pandemic, additional precautions have been set up to help protect them from contracting the virus. Instead of immediately entering homes, they have begun to administer health screenings at the doorway – wearing masks and gowns in addition to their usual protective gear.
“It is a bit more equipment than they are used to wearing but it goes a long way in making sure everyone is protecting themselves from the virus,” said Chris Page, OTC’s Paramedicine Technology Program Director. “Our students are also gaining invaluable experience that will enrich their studies and make them better first responders.”
Page, along with Instructors, Matthew Parr and Heather Reddick, are also continuing to pick up part-time shifts as first responders to play their role in helping to slow down the spread of the virus.
