Dr. Amy Willis Dorminey
Veterinary Technology Instructor
Dr. Amy Willis Dorminey is a native of Vidalia, Georgia. She is a 2006 cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and a 2002 magna cum laude graduate of Georgia Southern University (BS Biology). Dr. Dorminey practiced small and large animal medicine in Claxton, Georgia for four years before moving to north Georgia and purchasing and operating two small animal hospitals. Amy joined the OTC Veterinary Technology program in the fall of 2014. Dr. Dorminey is a member of the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators. In addition, she serves as an advisor on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee at Georgia Southern University. In her free time, Dr. Dorminey enjoys gardening, and spending time with her husband Jon and her daughter Eva. Dr. Dorminey’s family also includes a multitude of four-legged children, including 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Billie Walker, LVT, RVT
Veterinary Technology Instructor
Ms. Walker received her Associate’s Degree in Agriculture with a major in Animal Health Technology from Tri County Technical College in Pendleton, South Carolina and obtained her veterinary technician’s license in 1982. She has spent her 24-year career as a licensed veterinary technician in large and small animal private practice, research, and academia. She is an experienced Licensed Animal Health Technician whose professional knowledge, clinical skills and heart bring vision and passion to the veterinary technology profession. She is a member of the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators, National Association of Veterinarian Technicians in America, Past President and NAVTA State Representative for South Carolina Association of Veterinary Technicians, Georgia Veterinary Technician and Assistant Association, Veterinary Technology Advisor Committee, Institute for the Care and Use of Animals and Student Chapter Advisor for the Student Chapter of National Association of Veterinary Technicians in American for Ogeechee Technical College. Ms. Walker has had the privilege of working with three very different veterinary technology programs, and is currently employed by the state of Georgia at Ogeechee Technical College in the Veterinary Technology Program in Statesboro, Georgia. She is the mother of two very talented two-legged children. Nell, her 26-year-old daughter, a graduate of Georgia Southern University, who is now a practicing paramedic in Beaufort, SC and Jordan, her 23-year-old son, who is employed by the City of Savannah. Her four-legged children are also very talented--smiling Dalmatian, Perdie; acrobatic, heartwarming female DSH George; polydactyl DSH Tucks Toe Malley; energetic, fast-moving English Springer Spaniel Maggie; world’s largest lap dog Buck-a-Lee, a 75-pound American Bulldog; and growing kitten Harley.
