Ogeechee Technical College’s Student Affairs division recently completed its first project under the college-wide Ogeechee on the Go initiative, an effort to expand the college’s community service involvement.
For its first project, the team collected essential hygiene items for The Button, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with the Bulloch County School System to provide supplies to local students in need.
Donations were accepted through December 18, with items dropped off at the Enrollment Services desk on campus. The collection included shampoo and conditioner, soap, body wipes, toothbrushes and toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, deodorant, and other personal care essentials.
“We were proud to take part in this Ogeechee On the Go initiative by supporting students in our local school system," said Vice President for Student Affairs, Christy Rikard. "Many of our employees give back to the community in their own ways, and it was especially meaningful to come together as a team for this effort.”
