OTC Combines Events for grand College & Career Industry Expo

Ogeechee Technical College welcomed more than 300 students from Bulloch County, Evans County, and the Metter College and Career Academy to its campus on Tuesday, September 9, for the College & Career Industry Expo.
This year’s expo marks the launch of a newly combined format, merging OTC’s traditional College & Career Expo with it’s Business & Industry Showcase. The integrated event aimed to help students make meaningful connections between academic programs and the local industry jobs and opportunities that lead to them.
Participants rotated through a series of 10-minute program highlights led by OTC faculty and staff, with each student group guided by a volunteer and school chaperone. Many of the groups then had the opportunity to visit with and meet representatives from local business and industry experts during the expo portion of the tour.
“This event is all about bridging the gap between education and workforce opportunities,” said Shannon Mitchell, Executive Director for Enrollment Services at OTC. “We are working diligently to create ways for young students to see the benefits of technical education and the quality careers they can step into shortly after graduating high school.”
Programs featured in this year’s event included Welding, Nursing, Agribusiness, Electrical/Industrial Systems, Automotive, HVAC, Paramedicine, Cybersecurity, and Criminal Justice.
